Sustainability

ICD2025 will bring together dermatology experts from around the world to share knowledge, explore the future of the field, and advance skin health for all.

Committed to sustainability as a shared responsibility, ICD2025 is a congress with sustainable ambitions, encouraging conscious choices to reduce environmental impact for collective well-being, while leading the way in promoting sustainable practices within the dermatology community.

Food Surplus Recovery

ICD2025 has joined the Food for Good project by Federcongressi&eventi, Banco Alimentare, and Equoevento Onlus.

ICD2025 will:

  • Provide energy-efficient mobile phone charging stations.
  • Except for the pocket version, not print the scientific program, which will be available on the congress website and app.
  • If printing is necessary, use FSC-certified paper.
  • Provide stations and bins to encourage waste separation.
  • For the setups, give priority to materials produced locally, reused from other setups, and/or made from recycled and/or certified materials.
  • Use disposable utensils if they are made from biodegradable and compostable materials.
  • Provide information to participants regarding the option to reach the congress venue using public transportation.
  • Ensure the location is accessible and safe for all people with disabilities.
  • Aim to generate a positive impact on society through special projects.
  • Select hotels within walking distance of the congress venue.
  • Use local suppliers to reduce the environmental impact of transportation.
  • Collaborate with partners committed to reducing their carbon footprint and who have already implemented sustainable practices in their operations.
  • Use e-posters instead of printed materials.
  • Include recycled cotton bags, pens, notepads, and lanyards in the congress kit.
  • Choose local menus for social events.
  • Communicate its commitment to sustainability through social media.

Within the framework of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS), ICD2025 promotes initiatives aimed at fulfilling the following SDGS:

SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being: The ICD Congress fosters global collaboration among dermatology experts to share knowledge, best practices, and advancements that contribute to improving skin health, a key element of overall health and well-being.

SDG 4 – Quality Education: The congress serves as an educational platform for dermatologists, researchers, and students to exchange knowledge on the latest advancements in dermatology, ensuring they have the necessary skills to address dermatological health issues effectively.

SDG 5 – Gender Equality: ICD promotes equal participation of women and men in scientific discussions, leadership roles, and decision-making processes within the dermatology community. The event encourages diversity and inclusivity among speakers, researchers, and participants.

SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production: The ICD Congress strives to minimize waste by using recyclable materials and adopting sustainable practices in the production and distribution of event materials.

SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: The ICD Congress fosters collaborations with organizations that advocate for sustainability, including initiatives such as “Surf4Children”, to drive collective action toward achieving sustainable development goals.
